iLEAP International Fellow, 2014
Hotlin is the Co-Founder and Head of Alam Sehat Lestari (ASRI),a nongovernmental organization in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. ASRI combines conservation and healthcare through community-based projects. She also acts as Program Manager of Conservation and Health Care Projects at ASRI and is a practicing dentist.
Hotlin’s passion lies at the intersection of human and environmental health. She believes that “not only can we have healthy people and a healthy environment, but the two are fundamentally interlinked. We cannot separate one from the other.” Hotlin is hopeful that the success of ASRI can serve as a model to other endangered communities and environments worldwide.
She sees the iLEAP program as an opportunity to share ideas and clarify her own goals for the future. “The iLEAP fellowship will provide the forum for idea sharing that will help me to realize my vision.”
