Keisuke’s Story

Originally from Saitama, Keisuke is majoring in Policy Management at Keio University.

Keisuke is interested in the struggles people face when they are isolated from their community due to illness, in particular, when a student becomes sick, and cannot attend school. He became interested in this issue in high school, when he himself had to spend a year in the hospital. Keisuke then recognized that many children were isolated from their worlds, and their schooling, due to illness.

Keisuke hopes to combat this by creating education opportunities for those who cannot participate in a traditional school setting. He wants to create a space where children that are unable to go to school can still learn, by holding classes in the hospital itself. His project aims to prevent children from feeling isolated from society by creating connection between students in similar situations and building a community.

Through the TOMODACHI-Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program, Keisuke is looking forward to learning more about his own leadership and how to connect of people who have an equally strong desire to create change in their communities. She is also excited to expand her knowledge by communicating with new organizations, and to get her closer to her social business goals.
