Kiichi’s Story

Originally from Hokkaido, Kiichi is majoring in Education at Aoyama Gakuin University.

Kiichi has always understood the value and the power of organizing a movement. That is why he will soon be representing a campus volunteer organization that will be involved in planning, operating and implementing wide range of activities from Japan to Southeast Asia. Kiichi hopes to utilize volunteering activities in a more systematic manner to create an effective social change, especially in reorganizing efforts in places like Tohoku region. He believes with a proper framework, he can improve volunteer outreach methods and enhance the experience of students who are highly motivated to contribute to society.

Kiichi’s long term vision involves fighting for equality in the workplace for women in Japan. He feels there is still a huge gender gap when it comes to employment opportunities and women are continuously struggling to advance. One of the first step Kiichi wants to take towards creating this change is having better access to information for women in order to help them fully understand their own rights.

Through the TOMODACHI-Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program, Kiichi hopes to gain practical skills and knowledge of becoming a better leader.
