Ruiko’s Story

Originally from Fukuoka, Ruiko is majoring in Liberal Arts at Tokyo University.

Ruiko’s dream is to create a society where everyone can realize their possibilities and pursue what possibilities lead them to. When she met people from rural areas, she was shocked to learn that the education opportunities are not equally provided even in the same country, Japan. This experience led her to desire to eliminate the education gap between rural areas and urban area in Japan.

Ruiko wants to create an online community for high school and college students so that they can have educational opportunities regardless of their location and financial situation. Both high school and college students can realize their possibilities and reconsider them through the interaction in this online community. Eventually, Ruiko also wants to contribute to the spread of education in developing countries.

Ruiko is willing to seek what kind of leader she should be, reconsider herself, and meet permanent fellows through the TOMODACHI-Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program.
