Yojiro’s Story

Originally from Kanagawa, Yojiro is majoring in Faculty Science at Sophia University

Yojiro believes in the power of technology and its ability to create social good if utilized correctly. In today’s world, social medial has a way of reaching millions of people and Yojiro hopes to learn more about this phenomenon to create a better world. He also realizes that in order to be a change maker, it is essential to be a good leader. Having had the experience of leading around 60 people in the past, Yojiro quickly saw the challenges in leading when the number of people increases and opinions start to vary. He is currently part of the Microsoft Student Partners (MSP) program and is seeing the importance technology plays in creating social change.

Through technology and innovation, Yojiro also wants to tackle pressing social problems such as bullying. Bullying in school is very prevalent in Japan and it often is the main cause for high suicide rates. Having experienced this happen around him, Yojiro understands the importance of creating good support system to help survivors, while also attempting to address the root causes of the problem. Yojiro’s vision is to use social innovation to develop a study program for students experiencing rough school life and create a new community for them.

Through the TOMODACHI-Microsoft iLEAP Social Innovation and Leadership Program, Yojiro wants to meet likeminded individuals, learn leadership skills, and challenge himself to become a better innovator and a leader.
