For today’s lunch we got to eat at FareStart Restraurant which deals with ”homelessness” by a unique approach from frood.
The food was delicious:))))
Since there is a 10-year plan to end homelessness by 2014 in King County,
FareStart is making a big movement to make that happen. They are training homeless youth as students to cook as part of their program and support them to get out of the cycle of homelessness.
They not only serve food for the restaurant but they also provide food to the shelters.
They first started off thinking that shelter meals were unhealthy and they wanted to provide healthy food for them and ended up creating a restaurant along with providing support for the homeless.
Since I intern at a company called “Street Bean Espresso” which deals with the problem of “homelessness”, I feel that there is a strong sence of “community building” in Seattle which is extremely important and a great thing to have:) even though “homelessness” may seem nothing to do with themselves for some people, if you think of people as part of the “community”, I believe the way people view others change dramatically.
